Application note:

Good ventilation must be ensured during processing and curing of OTTOSEAL S80 Natursteinsilikon. Joint flanks and surfaces must be clean, dry, free of grease and stable. OTTO Cleaner T is recommended for this. For natural stone that is subject to wet stress (e.g. in bathrooms and shower facilities), we generally recommend OTTO Primer 1216. Apply OTTO Primer 1216 and let it dry for 15 minutes. Priming is not necessary for most natural stones that are not exposed to wet conditions. However, there are natural stones that require our OTTO Primer 1216 to achieve optimal adhesion, even without exposure to water. We have listed common natural stones in the adhesive table. The adhesive flanks of sandstone always with OTTO
Pre-treat with Primer 1102 after cleaning the joint edges with a brush. Other natural stones: carry out your own tests or contact us. The application of primer and base coat must be carried out with great care as there is a risk of staining if smeared or spattered on some types of marble and natural stone. Use Marble Silicone Smoothing Agent (undiluted) to smooth. We do not recommend the use of other common smoothing agents (e.g. washing-up liquid, etc.) because some types of marble and natural stone are very sensitive to stains. In any case, these must be heavily diluted, fresh and unused. Wash off or remove excess quantities immediately. Especially with unpolished natural stone surfaces, do not spread the silicone sealant beyond the joints, as smearing is difficult to remove. Due to the large number of possible influences during processing and application, the user must always carry out a test processing and application. The specific use-by date can be found on the label on the container and must be observed.

Special instructions:

Before using Ottoseal S 80, the user must ensure that the substances/materials in the contact area are compatible with it and with each other and are not damaged or changed (e.g. discolored). In the case of substances/materials that are subsequently processed in the area of the Ottoseal S 80, the user must clarify in advance that their ingredients or vapors cannot lead to any impairment or change (e.g. If necessary, the user must consult the respective manufacturer of the materials.

Prevention of mold when renovating silicone joints:

For proper joint renovation, it is essential to thoroughly remove the mold-infested sealant. It is also important to free the joint background and the flanks from any residue. The affected joint area must then be treated with anti-mold spray to kill any fungal spores that may be present. Only now can the joint be formed again. If these measures are not carried out very carefully, mold can very quickly reoccur despite the fungicidal properties of the sealant, since this would otherwise still be present in the joint.
