Product Info Denso Tok Plast:
TOK-Plast is a solvent-based fiber-reinforced compound based on a polymer-coated road construction bitumen. Suitable fillers lead to a tough consistency and thus to the edge to a high wet strength immediately after the application process. TOK-Plast is a mass suitable for bonding asphalt surfaces in accordance with the "Leaflet for Layers, Seams, Connections and Edge Formation of Traffic Areas of Asphalt" (M SNAR of the FGSV).
Seams are contact surfaces that are created side-by-side as longitudinal seams or consecutively as cross-seams in the path-wise installation of asphalt mixtures with comparable properties (M SNAR). The appropriately prepared seam flank (M SNAR, Section 4.2.2.) Is coated with TOK-Plast approx. 2 mm thick. In the case of longitudinal seams, this process is the most common type of machine application with the PLASTOMAT. For cross-seams and similar small-area applications, which may also apply to other asphalt layers, processing is done by means of a brush. Thanks to its good adhesive properties, TOK-Plast ensures a high, lasting seam quality.
The seam flank must be hardened and cooled. In general, the plastic compound can be applied about 30 minutes after the installation of the asphalt. The substrate must be clean and dry for adhesion. When installed, the plastic mass of rain or the like. not detached from the flank or otherwise impaired in function. A rinse is u. U. possible if larger volumes of water incurred, for example, in an incision. The plastic compound can be installed under the same temperature conditions as the asphalt. Covering layers, according to ZTV Asphalt-StB 01, i.d.R. at air temperatures ≥ 3 ° C. The optimum processing temperature of the compound is between +15 and + 20 ° C. At lower temperatures, we recommend using machine processing to warm the plastomers. Inadequately hydrated drum wraps can cause buildup, but these are very rare. After application, the plastic mass must bleed off, as a solvent is included. The flash off time is approx. 20 - 30 minutes. During the flash-off period, the plastic mass must not come into contact with an open flame or any other source of ignition.
The follow-up work can be carried out as soon as the mass is exhausted. It can also be worked with a greater time interval, for example after a few days, if a damage driving or the like. can be excluded.
The seam flank must be coated over the entire surface, so that the perfect connection can be made over the entire surface. The plastic layer (stripes on the surface) will not damage the cover layer. However, the visual impression is impaired, which bothers some builders. Others want to have this strip, also as proof for the installation of the mass. Here it must be decided on an individual basis
TOK-Plast can be stored at temperatures down to -10 ° C without any significant change in the material. The mass only becomes slightly tougher and may need to be heated before it is processed. With airtight container lid, the storage time is 3 years and can i.d.R. even after this time can be installed easily.
It should be noted that it is a product of hazard class Kl. A1 according to old VbF and a corresponding storage is required.
